Something that did interest me from this year's E3 is that there is a new game being worked on entitled Elite Dangerous.It may sound corny but the first half of that title is enough to grab my attention.
If you grew up in the era of 8-bit home computer, like me, then you'll recognize the title. For the unfamiliar, Elite was a game where the player piloted a space ship and explored the galaxy. It was one half space flight sim and one half sandbox game. Indeed, Elite today is recognised as a pioneer of the sandbox genre and highly revered by all those who've played it.
I've had a look at the footage released insofar and it looks absolutely staggering. It really looks and feels like a game intent on exploring the galaxy. The ships looks huge, the space effects look tremendous and this really looks like a true space exploration game leaping free from the restrictions imposed by a 8-bit graphics:
All i can say is that I hope they include a modern version of this unforgettable theme (starting 3.13):
